ITI- Industrial Training Institute is a Technical course one can join after successful completion of class 10th or Matriculation.

ITI is a great course for students who want to do a professional technical course in the short term. ITI courses after 10th are available in different fields, and candidates can pick classes based on their interests.

ITI is a good job oriented Technical course; an ITI holder can get a good job in electrical, mechanical, and other manufacturing sectors. So many students are getting Jobs in railways nowadays after ITI.

As the name suggests, you get a chance to work in industries after doing this course. You can get to work in different roles in different sectors, depending on which branch you did your ITI.

Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Industrial Training Centers are established under the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Union Government to give proper training in different job oriented industrial sectors.

Each ITI college is required to be accredited by SVCT or NVCT.

Branches/courses Available in India-

There are many courses or Trades of ITI; we can divide them into major two parts as engineering and non-engineering courses.

ITI full form

ITI full form is Industrial Training institute.

Engineering Courses-

Engineering Trades are those in which you have to read engineering-related subjects. In these courses, you will have to read Mathematics Physics and many more technical papers.

If you take any branch related to the engineering trade, then you will be able to study further engineering, you can get a lot of preference in Engineering admission also.

Non-Engineering courses-

In non-engineering trades, you have to read soft skills and daily life-related subjects.

Eligibility for ITI 

The eligibility criteria for the ITI course is as follows-

  • A pass in 8th,10th or Matriculation from any recognized Board.
  • some ITI courses are available which you can join even after the 10th.
  • 12th pass students can also Join the ITI course.
  • For most of the courses, the minimum age at the time of admission should not be less than 14 years.
  • The maximum age should be below 40 years. Age relaxation for reserved quota students is also available.
  • for most of the state government ITI colleges, you have to appear and qualify in the different sate ITI entrance exams.

ITI course after 12th

This is an important question asked by a lot of students. Can the ITI course be done even after the 12th?

Yes, even after twelfth you can join the ITI course. But the condition is that you must have maths and science subjects in the twelfth.

Many people also think that if they join the ITI course after twelfth then they will get admission in the second year. Which is not right.

The benefit of doing ITI after 12th is that you are a bit mature, you are more understanding of science and math subjects.

You can better disguise your ITI trade.

Duration of ITI Course

As you know how the ITI course has been designed so that technical education can be given to as many people as possible.

So that more and more people can be made skilled
Therefore the duration of the ITI course also varies, some courses can be of 6 months, 9 months, one year or even 2 years. Most courses after which you can do engineering or diploma, the duration of the course is 2 years.

ITI Admissions process 

different ITI admission process is there in India, depends on the type of college and course. For most of the Direct college admission based on the 10th mark is possible. In this way, it is smarter to comprehend the ITI confirmation procedure of various states independently.

Most of the private Institutions across India will provide you with direct admission based on your 10th or 12th percentage.

Almost all state governments are conducting entrance exams for admission in the government ITI college. the main benefits of getting admission to government colleges are quality faculty and fewer tuition fees.

ITI course fees

Tuition fees for ITI courses in India start from 5 thousand per year and go up to 50 thousand per year for some private institutes. the tuition fees for government colleges are Low, whereas the tuition fees for private colleges are High. the average tuition fees for Government colleges are around 7 thousand per year, and for private colleges, it comes approximately 25 thousand per year.

note.- students have to pay for their book extra, and for Exam also they have to pay each semester separately. (exam fees will be around 500 to 1000 per semester)

ITI Jobs

For ITI holders Many jobs are Available according to their stream.
We can divide that into two main parts-

Govt. Jobs ITI

After doing ITI, you can get a lot of government jobs. Initially, this post will be elementary, but later on, you can take a lot of promotions and reach a good position.
Initially, you may get less salary if you do a government job, but with time you will get a good salary. There are lots of positions in many state governments in which only ITI people can apply. A particular reservation is there for ITI students.
Apart from this, you can also apply for various other jobs in the Central Government, in defence, in the electricity department and other central government departments.

Private Jobs after ITI

After doing ITI, you have the option of a lot of private jobs, which you can choose according to your branch and interest.

Many students who get placement through campus selection, get jobs in private sectors, in the beginning salary may be fewer. Still, with time and experience, you will get a good salary.

A lot of people go to other countries and do jobs after doing ITI.

Higher education After ITI

Higher education options after the ITI course is open for all students. Those who have completed the 2-year industrial training institute course can join Polytechnic courses directly in 2nd year.
the branch they will get in Polytechnic depends on the department they studied in ITI.
Or they can go for other courses also.

If a student wants to graduate after ITI, then he has to do twelfth. Or the other option is that with his ITI course, if he gets plus two from NIOS, then he can also graduate from NIOS after completing his ITI course.
