Nuclear engineering deals with the application of breaking down atomic nuclei (fission) or of combining atomic nuclei (fusion), or with the application of other sub-atomic processes based on the principles of nuclear physics. So basically this engineering discipline is a work at the atom level, so it’s a very sensitive one. Whenever we are using the word nuclear the first thing comes up in our mind is a nuclear bomb, but the positive and useful use of nuclear energy is also very high. The use in the fields of medicine, power production and submarines are some positive examples. The role of nuclear engineer is very important in this area.

Eligibility

A pass in 10+2 with a minimum percentage of 50. (45 % for SC/ST)

 

Admission Procedure

Most of the colleges are conducting their Entrance Exam for admission to this course.

The student looking for the Admission in this course should secure a good rank in the Entrance Exam, as the no. of colleges and seats are limited for Aeronautical Engineering.

  • SRMEEE

 

Scope of Nuclear Engineering

Earlier the nuclear energy was being used for destruction only, but with the time engineers and scientists have discovered the positive aspect of nuclear energy. The use of nuclear methods in the fields of medicine is very high. For power production, this energy is being used at a high level, and also in submarines. So the demand for nuclear engineers is also very high. A career in nuclear engineering can assure you a bright future.

 

 

Fees

Fees for nuclear engineering starts from 2 lakhs per year and goes up to 5 lakhs per year for some private colleges.

 

 

Course Duration

Duration of nuclear engineering is 4 years, divided into 8 semesters.

 

 

Salary / Package-

Salary or package for nuclear engineers starts from 4 lakhs per year on average. Some students have got a package of more than ten lakhs also.
